Children anxiety and depression concept, psychologist talking with sad little boy at the o

In every child’s story, there is resilience waiting to be nurtured.

Children often express their feelings through play, behavior and imagination rather than words. Child counselling provides a safe, nurturing space where children can explore emotions, develop coping skills and build confidence. Using gentle, developmentally appropriate approaches, children learns to identify and express feelings, manage anxiety or anger and navigate life transitions such as family changes, school stress or trauma.

Therapeutic Approach

Sessions are child-centered, strength-based and neurodiversity-affirming, evidence-based and compassionate approaches, such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — linking thoughts, feelings and actions

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) — shaping and reinforcing positive skills, personalized strategies to help children understand emotions, communicate effectively and build positive coping skills. Through engaging activities and structured routines, children strengthen social connections, reduce challenging behaviors and foster resilience in daily life.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — helping children build mindfulness and flexibility

  • Play and Art Therapy Techniques — encouraging safe emotional expression &  share experiences creatively

  • Play & Eco-Therapy — Combining creative play and nature-based activities, children express emotions, connect with their senses and find calm through exploration. This approach supports emotional regulation, curiosity and confidence in a nurturing, nature-inspired space.

  • Parent Collaboration — supporting caregivers in understanding and responding to their child’s needs

trauma and memory

Trauma disconnects us from ourselves. Healing reconnects us to our wholeness.

Trauma can leave lasting effects on how we think, feel and relate to ourselves and others. Even long after the event has passed, it may show up as anxiety, emotional numbness, hypervigilance or disconnection from the body. In trauma counselling, I offer a gentle, compassionate and somatic approach that supports safety and regulation before processing painful experiences. Together, we explore how trauma lives in the body and mind and work toward re-establishing trust, resilience and inner balance.

Therapeutic Approach

  • Somatic Therapy – helping to reconnect with body’s natural rhythm and release stored tension

  • Trauma-Informed CBT – managing thoughts, identifying triggers and building emotional safety

  • DBT and ACT Techniques – balancing acceptance with meaningful change

  • Narrative Therapy – for re-storying experiences from survival to growth

  • Polyvagal and Nervous System Regulation – understanding the body’s responses to stress and learning how to return to calm

  • Mindfulness and Compassion Practices – grounding in the present moment and fostering inner safety

  • Eco-Therapy for grounding and healing through connection with nature

family therapy

When one person in a family begins to heal, the whole family moves toward balance.

Families are living systems when one person is struggling, everyone feels it. Family counselling provides a safe, supportive space to improve communication, resolve conflict and rebuild trust and understanding between members. Using a trauma-informed and relational approach, I help families explore patterns that may be creating tension or disconnection. Together, we practice healthier ways to communicate, regulate emotions and support each other through life’s challenges.

Therapeutic Approach

Drawing from a holistic framework inspired by the Medicine Wheel:

  • Systemic and Family Systems Theory – understanding how each person influences and responds to one another

  • Emotion-Focused and Attachment-Based Therapy – deepening emotional connection and repair

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – recognizing thought and behavior patterns that impact relationships

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – helps how to manage strong emotions, problem-solving within relationships, improve relationships and live with greater balance and control.

  • Narrative Therapy – exploring family stories and creating new, supportive narratives together

  • Communication and Conflict-Resolution Skills – building listening, empathy and problem-solving abilities
